Durban - President Jacob Zuma on Sunday extended his condolences following the death of the Mchunu clan chief in KwaZulu-Natal, inkosi Simakade Mchunu.

"He was 91 years old and had been the reigning traditional leader of the Mchunu clan since 1944," the Presidency said in a statement.

Mchunu had reigned over the Msinga and Greytown areas in the province.  He died following a long illness.
