Johannesburg - Gauteng police appealed to members of the public on Tuesday to look out for life-saving paediatric medical equipment stolen during a hijacking in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg, earlier this year.

Honeydew police spokesperson Karen Jacobs said:  "Part of the consignment on the bakkie included very specialised medical equipment that is used in paediatric [intensive care units] ICUs.

"There were also drums of liquid that is used as the coolant in the machines."

The stolen equipment, imported from Germany, was "urgently required by the medical fraternity".

Jacobs asked anyone who knew where it was to contact the police.

A R20 000 reward was being offered to anyone who could help find the machines.
