Menzi Simelane 'no longer works for NPA'

2012-12-05 08:23

Johannesburg - Embattled National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Menzi Simelane has been removed from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), according to a report on Wednesday.

NPA spokesperson Bulelwa Makeke told The Times newspaper: "He no longer works for the NPA - in any capacity", without going into further details.

In October, the Constitutional Court confirmed a Supreme Court of Appeal ruling in favour of the Democratic Alliance that President Jacob Zuma's decision to appoint Simelane as NDPP was invalid.

After the ruling, Nomgcobo Jiba was appointed acting NDPP, but no further decision on Simelane's position was made public.

Yes this country sucks in many ways, but in how many other African, South American, Asian, even some western countries can the leader of the opposition get someone so high up fired, through the courts nogal. Meanwhile people in the UK are being arrested for suspicious Facebook posts....tisk tisk. And we're meant to be backwards

So DA EXPOSED Zuma again. What does that mean? It means ever appointment that Zuma made to his cabinet is invalid. E.g. how can you appoint a minister to come and act to other portfolio while the other minister is on leave or out of the country, why not deputy minister in the same portfolio? He lacks managerial skills. Yes, he’s going to win at Mangaung and people will still vote for him.

Destroy the evidence Menzi when you take over, the shower man said. Have you heard in any country the head of prosecution attending an NEC or a strategic conference of a political party, that is Menzi. Would he dare prosecute his political masters? Scandalous, scandalous and pathetic of ruling party. His membership should have been withdrawn by the Joburg bar after Ginwala enquiry. Is there another political appointee coming who is geared to challenge and prosecute shower? May be for now that individual still has to be born I think.

The "without going into further details" bit tells me there is more to the story - tell me please, he is not working for the NPA, but is he still being paid a salary? Anywhere else in the world that question would appear absurd, but in South Africa not so much...

Excellent DA. At least there is someone out there trying to look after the interests of the people.

Over 70% of the original 40 members of the ANC's NEC has had serious accusations of fraud levelled against them (some 60% were implicated in travelgate scandal alone), is includes some 800 accusations against Jacob Zuma alone, and that was before he assumed the office of power: I wonder how many there would be now if the Scorpions weren't disbanded when he got into power? This of course excludes more serious accusations of rape and even murder levelled against currently serving NEC members. As Jacob Zuma promised the NEC who in turn made him president, not a single one of these NEC members have been prosecuted since he got into power. Do you honestly think that Jacob or ANC for that matter would nominate an independent person into the position of head of the NPA?
