Johannesburg - A metro police officer was arrested in Protea Glen, near Soweto, for allegedly asking a truck driver for a bribe, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

The officer demanded money from the truck driver in return for his vehicle's licence disk, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.

He was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday on a charge of extortion, Makhubela said.
