Johannesburg - Metrorail would run a scaled down service on Monday, due to an organised strike by SA Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu), the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) said on Sunday.

"We are working on a contingency plan to ensure minimum disruption to the service. However, we acknowledge that there will be inconveniences," said Gauteng manager Tembela Kulu in a statement.

Workers aligned to three other unions were expected to arrive for work as usual.

Prasa apologised for the disruption and thanked commuters for their patience.

Customers were encouraged to contact Metrorail customer care centre on 0800-12-70-70 for further details.

why do those in charge of running Metrorail, always think and believe that a simple THAnk YOU and SORRY for any inconvince would solve anything?

The government pushes for everyone to start using public transport, but my employer tells me my contract specifies I must have reliable transport to work and "Government transport services are neither reliable or legitimate modes of transport" Just another government failure to add to the 18 year streak.
