Johannesburg - Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tina Joemat-Pettersson is being investigated for allegedly taking a kickback of R100 000 for arranging the purchase of an R18m game farm, it has been reported.

Joemat-Pettersson was at the time an MEC in the Northern Cape when she allegedly closed the deal for the state, reported the Sunday Times.

The farm was reportedly bought for disadvantaged women.

According to an affidavit by Monica du Toit, the lawyer who facilitated the 2006 deal, the money was paid into Joemat-Pettersson’s private bank account as a “reward for the minister’s moeite (efforts)”.

Joemat-Pettersson was asked to comment via her official spokesperson but failed to respond by the time of going to print, reported the Sunday Times.
