Cape Town - Brendan Ficks, the station manager of Good Hope FM that was presumed missing by his family and friends, who had launched a campaign to find him, returned home on Sunday morning.

"The good news is that he is home. He arrived at the home this morning [Sunday]. Everyone is grateful," Ficks's friend Arend Visagie told News24.

Visagie was not aware of why Ficks had supposedly disappeared since Thursday, but Ficks told him he would release a statement later.

He said there was a constant stream of visitors at the house since he returned.

After Ficks appeared to have gone missing on Thursday, hundreds of people took to Twitter to spread the word about him, and passed around his information.

A Facebook page named Prayers for Brendan Ficks had also been set up, and a poster of him was sent out by The Pink Ladies.

Visagie told News24 earlier that Ficks left his workplace at the SABC on Thursday evening, and did not arrive at home.

"Normally two things happen. He goes to gym or he goes home, where he lives with his parents. And given the age of his parents, he is always in contact with them, or his sister," he said before Ficks had returned home.

"He had nothing in his calender. He is the type of person to always let people know where he is going. Nothing like has ever happened with him."

His colleagues and family checked if there were any accidents in the area, and also checked with local hospitals, but could not find him.

Visagie said Ficks's family reported the matter to the police on Saturday.

Warrant Officer Deon Beck told News24 on Sunday the police were told Ficks had returned home, however the family 'did not want to say where he was', but that he was safe.

Good Hope FM could not be reached for comment.

According to website www.mediaupdate.co.za, Ficks took up his position as station manager on August 1 last year.

“Ficks has extensive media and marketing experience having worked for companies such as Sasol, Tiger Brands, and Nestle and until recently as marketing manager of Son, a division of Media24,” the site said.
