Missing boy found with slit throat

2012-11-13 10:55

Johannesburg - The family of a missing 9-year-old boy found his body at the Tshwane state mortuary, Beeld reported on Tuesday.

His throat had been slit. Riaan Lebembe, a pupil at the Masakhane Primary School in Hammanskraal, disappeared last Tuesday on his way to school.

Police found a child's body in dense bush in Silvertondale on Friday.

"The child's mother told her employer last week that her son was missing," police spokesperson sergeant Portia Maleka said.

"The employer had read a report in Beeld about a missing child, and on Monday he asked the mother if she had found her child yet. When she said no, he referred her to the police."

The mother, who was not identified, sent her daughter, Johanna Lebembe, to the Silverton police station on Monday. Police took Lebembe to the mortuary, where she identified her brother.

Police suspected he was murdered elsewhere, before being dumped in Silvertondale.

Anyone with information about the case should contact the Silverton police station on 012-8454047, Maleka requested.

      michael.horton.566790 - 2012-11-13 11:10

This is absolutely terrible! What could a child of 9 years old have done to ANYONE to deserve to get his throat slip! We live in a sick, cruel society! I say bring back the f%&king death penalty already!!! And those who say that it does not deter offenders can go f%&k themselves!

      janice.mcmaster.92 - 2012-11-13 11:20

What a wonderful country we live in!!!

      danie.antwerpen - 2012-11-13 11:39

The only way this sensless killings will stop is if there are extremely harsh punishment such as the death penality - otherwise these people get 15 years and out on 15 to do it again... Mu brain says give the killers to the community, my humanity says bring back the death penalty...

      rohin.jadin - 2012-11-13 12:20

@michael amen to that. @andrez - an article about a 9 yr old CHILD being murdered and you're worried about a typo?

      Eterni80 - 2013-11-05 13:45

what kind of a country have we become where people murder and rape a 9 year old boy ???? thank you Jacob Zuma for making the police force so useless that crimes such as these are no longer the extreme, but the NORM one day the darkness will come for you, and then you'll know the pain, the terror and the suffering that the people who died on your watch knew just before they passed. I hope I am alive to witness that day.

how horrible , rest in eternal little man

  • kenpeg.dawson - 2012-11-13 11:15

Not even the kids are safe any more. SICK STATE OF AFFAIRS.

  • AmuseMePLs - 2012-11-13 11:21

so the mother went to work and didnt bother to take a day off to look for her son? and only decided to go to the police when directed by her employer? i really dont get this woman.

      siphiwo.maurice - 2012-11-13 11:29

On top of that AmuseMePLS, the mother sent her daughter to report this at the police....can't she go on her own other than a child identifying her little brother? May his rest in peace. Other facts, we don't know.

      patrick.mampane - 2012-11-13 11:34

Maybe she is not allowed to take days off no matter what.

      godesha - 2012-11-13 11:40

We don't know what the circumstances were, so we should not judge this her. She has enough to deal with.

As soon as the darkie criminals are caught, they must be handed to the community for justice. The tyres and petrol are ready.

      jason.heineberg - 2012-11-13 11:43

Because more violence is what we need? Its a sad reality that due to poverty and terrible standards of living that human life has such a low value in our country and such a solution seems justified.

      Ze Don - 2012-11-13 12:02

@Jason: How does poverty justify the cold blooded murder of a child? People take justice into their own hands because we have a dysfunctional legal system. I would prefer that this animal is permanently disposed of because if it's left to our legal system, he'll be released to murder again in 5 years!

      jason.heineberg - 2012-11-13 14:25

I didn't say it justifies it, I was merely making the same point that you have, that its sad that our legal system doesn't work and that violent measures seem just in our "dystopia".

  • mparrster - 2012-11-13 11:25

The SA flag in my office is UPSIDE DOWN!

      Ze Don - 2012-11-13 11:54

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-11-13 12:10

Oh yes, and if you say anything they don't like then you're automatically a right wing racist.

  • MDkiliko - 2012-11-13 11:37

  • modernmetaphysicist.modern - 2012-11-13 12:44

sick, where is the death penalty for the criminals, a lethal injection, cheap, scary and solves many problems, stop wasting the tax payers money on raising criminals and setting them free, backward system we have.

  • teri.bosmanbekker - 2012-11-13 12:50

Die Government is te SLAP GAT om die Death Penalty terug te bring - Because fellow comrades will be prosecuted and killed then. Sick F*cking joke of a nation we are - and yet - 18 years of voting for them - and 18 years they still have not done what they promised - there is MORE crime - MORE Rape - MORE murders - LESS homes - LESS Schooling - LESS decent hospitals - MORE poverty - ... It won't be long before we see the reintroduction of community justice and kangaroo courts. People are getting fed-up with these senseless murders. And they will impose the death sentence as they see fit.
