Johannesburg - Modelling boss Dawie de Villiers has pleaded not guilty to 38 counts of rape, sexual assault, indecent assault, sexual grooming, possession of child pornography, fraud and theft.

The Johannesburg High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Monday heard De Villiers, the Modelling South Africa founder and owner, had allegedly raped and sexually violated several teenage girls between 2011 and 2012.

As prosecutor Arveena Persad read out all 38 counts at the trial's commencement against the 35-year-old, a formally dressed De Villiers listened attentively. He pleaded not guilty to all of them.

The Kempton Park businessman is accused of among others, raping a 15-year-old girl in 2011. He then allegedly asked the teenager to have a relationship with him and to send him a picture of her private parts.

He is also accused of indecent assault after he penetrated an adult female from behind against her will.

In the same year, he also allegedly inserted his fingers under a 14-year-old's ski pants. Thereafter, he allegedly told the girl she sexually aroused him and requested she send him pictures of herself naked or wearing lingerie.

He also then sent her naked pictures of himself, the court heard.

In a separate incident, he is accused of inserting his fingers inside a 15-year-old's underwear and kissing her on the mouth.

De Villiers also faces charges of exposing pornography to two children aged 7 and 10.

In total, De Villiers faces one count of indecent assault, one count of rape, two counts of exposing pornographic materials to two minors, two counts of sexual grooming, one count of intimidation, seven counts of sexual assault, two counts of possession of pornographic material, eight counts of accessing child pornography, three counts of crimen injuria and 11 counts of fraud.

Trial proceedings would continue on Wednesday.
