Cape Town - The parliamentary minutes of the
legislature's chaotic opening last week will be revised to include events that
were omitted, National Council of Provinces chairperson Thandi Modise said on
Tuesday.
She did so after opposition MPs complained, ahead of the
debate on President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation address, that the minutes
had been sanitised.
"I want to give you the assurance... by the next
sitting the minutes will be put in the manner in which they are usually
put," Modise told the first joint sitting since the address.
The minutes reportedly omitted the use of police to
remove all EFF MPs from the National Assembly, the blocking of cellphone
reception in the Chamber, and the walkout by the DA.
FF Plus Whip Corné Mulder told Modise: "All I ask is
that the minutes be rectified."
Modise said she was aware of the issue, before promising
to have it rectified.
