Mom, children die of smoke inhalation

Johannesburg - A woman and her two children died of smoke inhalation inside their shack in Willarsfarm, south of Johannesburg, emergency services said on Tuesday.

 "The mother and her two children died of smoke inhalation due to a burning brazier which was left unattended inside their shack when they fell asleep.

"They were confirmed dead on the scene on Tuesday morning," said spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.

Another shack fire

Meanwhile, a man died when his backyard shack caught fire in Northriding, Johannesburg.

"The incident happened early on Tuesday morning. He was burnt beyond recognition," said Mulaudzi.

Four vehicles in the backyard workshop also burnt down.

The cause of the fire was not yet known, Mulaudzi said.
