Mom confesses to killing missing boy

2012-01-01 11:22

Cape Town - The mother of 2-year-old Tariq Jacobs has confessed to his murder, Western Cape police said on Sunday.

Warrant Officer November Filander said she confessed to the crime on Saturday night following her arrest earlier in the day.

Jacobs's body was found in a shallow grave at Imperial Primary School in Beacon Valley at about 14:00 on Saturday.

He was last seen at the old bus terminus in Mitchells Plain on Thursday at around 10:00.

An autopsy was reportedly being conducted with the cause of death unknown.

Filander said the 36-year-old mother was expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and abandonment.

My heart goes out to the child's father

      Carla - 2012-01-01 12:00

How can some one give thumbs down when Judith expressed her condolences to the father. Shows the mindset of some of the posters

      Steenbra - 2012-01-01 12:11

According to the Cape Argus, the boy never saw his dad, probably absconded from his responsibilities..who knows. No excuse though to kill an innocent 2yr old!

      Squeegee - 2012-01-01 13:25

      Where was his father?

      Steenbra - 2012-01-01 14:01

Mom and dad divorced and Dad a taxi driver in the Mitchells Plain. Contrary to what I posted apparently his dad did see him..

      Steenbra - 2012-01-01 17:46

It now emerges that the mother is being investigated for two more of her childrens' deaths..! wow

  • emile.eley - 2012-01-01 11:34

    Stone the filthy bitch.

      Vegi - 2012-01-01 11:41

Don't try to import foreign laws into this country.

      emile.eley - 2012-01-01 11:48

That would be as hard as introducing an intelligent thought into your head.

      leigh.ridgway - 2012-01-01 13:45

Emile, perhaps you should F**k off to a country where stoning is the order of the day and you're first in line for a good few rocks at your empty head!

      emile.eley - 2012-01-01 19:52

Now now Leigh are you and Vegi from the same patch?

      Ask - 2012-01-01 20:07

@ All the guys - Don't be harsh to Emile; he is on your side - he used this line in a sarcastic overtone...

      Tinky - 2012-05-28 10:31

@ ridg01 - are you the mother in this case, or do you perhaps agree with murdering innocent children? She killed a baby and you defend her? But you recommend that emile.eley is stoned for speaking out against this disgusting crime? Explain yourself...

  • acsteyn - 2012-01-01 11:35

What a tradegy, she must have been in a very dark place. What she did is inexcusable but she needs serious help if this all true.

  • " - 2012-01-01 11:36

So sad, so disgusting and terrible. The mother must be given a life sentence in prison.

  • Ian - 2012-01-01 11:39

  • Vegi - 2012-01-01 11:39

Yesterday I said the moron mother should be sterilized for letting loose a child of two years and idiots shouted me down. In a mall you either carry a child of two years or hold him by the arm, but never let the child loose. I still maintain that this woman should be sterilized even if it is proved that she did not murder the child.

      emile.eley - 2012-01-01 11:49

Vegi, put away the mirror and calling the reflection names, you unadulterated moron.

      Steenbra - 2012-01-01 12:05

Didnt you say that shoudnt import justice!!!! And then want to sterilize her even if she didnt murder!! According to the report she CONFESSED.. In my book that carries a maximum penalty!

      Lipizzan - 2012-01-02 16:44

The fact that she has possibly done this previously and is pregnant agin...I second your comment

  • theuns.esterhuysen - 2012-01-01 11:42

Give her township justice and a shallow grave. No child deserves this!

  • Grant - 2012-01-01 11:43

Yesterday commentators thought a male pervert was responsible... "charges of murder and abandonment". Odd this, how can you be charged with abandoning a dead body?

  • billidp - 2012-01-01 11:45

  • Trevor - 2012-01-01 12:14

So sad...and to think there are so many couples wanting a baby....and on the news this morning she (the mother) is pregnant again....

  • Perfume5 - 2012-01-01 12:33

I am beyond shocked, what did she kill her child for :(

  • Lynette Napoleon Adendorf - 2012-01-01 12:45

How sickening can this be. Killing your own child. People like this needs to be lock away and not be part of this society.

  • Lameez Khan Abrahams - 2012-01-01 12:50

the boy was last seen with his grandmother!!! Was she part of this whole ordeal??? Did she plan to get her grandson murdered too?

      Perfume5 - 2012-01-01 12:59

I doubt the granny would do something like this to her own grandson, I am sure I read an article saying he was found sitting at a bus-stop, who leaves a two year old sitting alone at a bus-stop. Looks like the fingers are pointing to the mother who confessed to murdering her own child.

  • irma.jackson2 - 2012-01-01 13:02

how could a mother kill her son. is it drugs that do these cruel deeds to our children. government must step in and do heavier outcomes in court. i will be in court and also have a demo so that the judge can see we are fedup with loveless mothers. just imagine 2yr old child no strenght to fight back. The devil in disguise

  • Achmat - 2012-01-01 13:39

lock her up and throw away the key

  • Julie - 2012-01-01 13:40

Savages don't know the difference between right and wrong.

  • Peter Robert Wyngaard - 2012-01-01 13:47

The death penalty should be brought back. Sentences are too mild for the offenders. Seems crime does pay in SA. Punishment should fit the crime committed.

      Adrienne Vickery - 2012-01-01 15:04

Yes clearly this thing is an animal what person kills their own two year old?

  • Silvana - 2012-01-01 14:07

WHY?????????? After all the crying on the radio, begging people to help her find him, telling us how he used to say "Hi dude" when he saw other kids. Why kill him ffs. Damn! I have lost faith in the human race. We do not deserve to be at the top of the food chain.

      Perfume5 - 2012-01-01 14:10

And she must of had the entire community supporting her, when the little boy "allegedly" went missing - she beyond sick, the crime she committed will haunt her for the rest of her wicked life. He was only 2, did not know how to defend himself, (I don't want to think of his last moments on earth).

      Ziyaad.jones - 2012-01-01 14:17

I can't grasp the idea of a mother killing her own child... it's just beyond me. We will never know the full extent of the story. May God protect all our children from such evil.

      Perfume5 - 2012-01-01 14:34

Corrention: meant to say she is beyond sick.....

  • Hilton Breda - 2012-01-01 14:30

As a friend of the father I vow that if they ever let her loose I will make sure that she won't be alive if I get my hands on her he was only 2 years ffs he's life only started we will lay him to rest today we will miss you tariq

      Perfume5 - 2012-01-01 14:35

      Strength to you all.

      lyndie.kotzee - 2012-01-04 14:04

Hilton sorry I don't have any feelings for the family too really... you can see if someone neglects their children by small things they do.... so the family even should have stepped in sooner than police investigations.... they should have been the ones that new how she is with her children more than anyone.. and him too... after the 2nd child's death the latest one really should open ones eyes.... do you want to tell me that after the 3rd child the family didn't even noticed anything by then.... oooo please no......

  • nazlie.theys.d - 2012-01-01 14:32

this female does not deserve to be called a mother....

  • Ziyaad.jones - 2012-01-01 16:02

She will get her day and maybe sooner than we think, every action got a reaction and who knows whats in-store for her in prison...

  • Solomon - 2012-01-01 17:06

An incident like this, reminds us of this saying that 'your child is my child' it is time that we all stop fearing to speak up. we as neighbours, friends and family members must begin to speak up when we notice when our children are at risk or in danger, even of their own parents/caregivers. we hope the justice system will not let the community of Mitchell's Plain down by allowing alledge perpertrators easily out on bail. Thus far we can be proud of the Mitchell's Plain police team who solved this case so speedily.

      Sharleen - 2012-01-03 12:45

Solomon, you say speak up when you see a child's life is in danger even by their own parents, well my grandchild's life is to me in danger and Mitchells Plain social service let me down twice when i contacted them and my grandchild is only now 1yr and 7months. So i have to now sit and watch how she gets raised in a unstable and disgraceful house. I am disgusted in our social services that we have today.
