Cape Town - A 30-year-old mother who confessed to murdering her 2-year-old son will appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court in Cape Town on Thursday.

Zulpha Jacobs is charged with murder and child abandonment in connection with the death of her son, Tariq.

Tariq was the third of her children - all of whom were aged 2 or younger - to have died in about a decade.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer November Filander confirmed at the time that the deaths of Jacobs's two other children were being investigated.

Tariq's body was found in some bushes behind Imperial Primary School in Beacon Valley on December 31 last year.

Jacobs had reported Tariq missing on December 29. She was arrested after she confessed to killing him.
