Johannesburg - Leigh Matthews's killer Donovan Moodley's application to overturn his life sentence was dismissed by the High Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Four years ago Moodley was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Bond University student Matthews, then aged 21. He was sentenced to an additional 15 years for her kidnapping and 10 for extortion.

"I am delighted [with the judgment], I hope he spends his life in jail," her father Rob said.

"He showed the kind of person he is and should serve his full sentence."
