More than 100 arrested in PE

Johannesburg - Over a 100 people were arrested in Motherwell over the weekend for various crimes, including rape and murder, Port Elizabeth police said on Sunday.

Warrant Officer Dumile Gwavu said the arrests were part of various operations.

"Three people were arrested for murder, two people were arrested for rape, four people were arrested for domestic violence and one person was arrested for housebreaking with intent to rape," he said.

Other arrests were for malicious damage to property, stock theft, shoplifting, possession of dagga, assault, drunken driving, housebreaking, and outstanding warrants.

    It's a good thing the SAPD's successes get more coverage. Most of us have a dim view of their methology but it's because of all the negative things that make the news. I know of several policemen who are hardworking, honest and loyal persons and I applaud their hard work and successes.
