Johannesburg - A tip-off to the flying squad led to the discovery of more than a dozen suspected stolen vehicles in a scrapyard in Midway, Soweto, on Wednesday, said Johannesburg police.

Police found 10 Toyota bakkies, a Toyota Corolla, a Mitsubishi and a VW golf on the premises, said Lieutenant Kay Makhubela.

"One of the bakkies was reported stolen earlier this month in Klerksdorp," said Makhubela.

"The nine others had already been tampered with," he said.

Two men, aged 34 and 46, were found on the scene.

They were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
