Johannesburg - A motorcyclist died when he crashed into the back of a light delivery vehicle on Ontdekkers road in Roodepoort on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said the motorcyclist died on the scene and two children, sitting on the back of the delivery vehicle, sustained serious and moderate injuries respectively.

Steinmann said the children were treated and stabilised on the scene before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

"Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation," said Steinmann.

RIP biker, ride the skyways to heaven. Why do they still allow people to be transported on the back of a bakkie? Thought this was against the law! But what the hell is the law anyway? No-one seems to abide by the law anyway.

I know this family. It was not a stationary vehicle or pick-up. Toyota fortuner. At a red traffic light. So info not accurate. Cyclist at 140 km into back of SUV at red traffic light.

He was travelling at 200km per hour and crashed into a still standing Fortuner's back. Sad.

He didn't need to go very fast if the bakkie was stationary, sad. Rest in Peace
