Motsepe quit before SACP call - SABC

Johannesburg - Limpopo co-operative governance MEC Clifford Motsepe resigned from the SABC board "long before" the SACP asked for his withdrawal, the public broadcaster said on Monday.

"We cannot accept that any party can take glory out of this [his resignation]. The SACP gives the impression that they are the ones telling us what to do, but that is incorrect," SA Broadcasting Corporation spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said.

"Mr Motsepe resigned long before the SACP could even think of this."

He said President Jacob Zuma appointed Motsepe, and the broadcaster was waiting for him to accept the resignation.

"He [Motsepe] has never attended a board meeting since resigning."

On Friday the SA Communist Party called on the broadcaster to "withdraw" Motsepe's membership because he was a politician, and did not qualify to be a board member.

"The SABC is supposed to be a political body [in which] no politicians should sit. There is one MEC from this province who is sitting on the SABC board and that is illegal," SACP Limpopo secretary Gilbert Kganyago said at the time.

Did Zuma not KNOW this BEFORE he appointed him?? or was he planning his wedding .....

Now I see why SABC shows suck. It's a political body, not a broadcasting corporation.

I suspect that Motsepe will have to wait a while for JZ to even read his letter of resignation as he is too busy hiring and pimping himself out for his 5th or is it 6th private wedding and nosh up with his buddies in some luxury destination. Just because he resigned before he was kicked out by the way doesn't mean he was any less inept and unskilled at doing the job which he was appointed to do by JZ. No doubt he will be dancing at JZ's wedding. JZ doesn't watc TV anyhow as he is too busy hunting down new wives so he couldn't care less about those couch potatoes who rely on TV for their entertainment instead of using his couch to run casting auditions for the next Mrs. Pres.
