Port Elizabeth – The husband of slain undertaker Roseline Bosman made his first appearance in a packed Humansdorp Magistrate Court on Wednesday, as shocked family members looked on.

Roseline, 45, and Daniel Bosman, 49, had been in the process of divorcing and were not on speaking terms, their 25-year-old son Branwyne told News24.

Branwyne was in Cape Town when his younger brother Edwin, a matric pupil, found their mother's body in bed at their Humansdorp home on Saturday morning.

She had no external injuries, but Edwin said the place was in a mess.

"Everything was lying scattered. She was neat and tidy and wouldn't go to bed like that, so I immediately suspected something [was wrong]," Branwyne said.

She had phoned him that Friday night to ask how he was.

When news of her death broke, he said his dad phoned him and said he wanted to come over to the house and see them.

"He was crying and saying he was going to give us advice. He was sad and mourning with us."

He lived in nearby Hankey.

"They were busy divorcing. She was taking it badly. They were not on speaking terms," Branwyne said.

"We also had a thing against him. Twenty-five years of marriage and just to throw it away like that. How can you live like that?"

Two other men were arrested in connection with her death.

The Herald reported that Bosman appeared to have been smothered with a pillow.

An unnamed police officer close to the investigation told the newspaper that one of the men had alleged the husband had hired them.

"He claims the husband offered them a house, a double-cab bakkie and R100 000 in cash to commit the murder," he was reported as saying.

Lunga Soldaat, 26, was allegedly found with the victim's laptop computer and wedding ring and arrested in Hankey on Sunday morning, Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei said.

Soldaat appeared in court on Tuesday.

Her estranged husband and 18-year-old Gregory Hendriks were arrested separately on Monday and appeared in court together.

Seekoei said the trio would appear again on Monday when a date for a formal bail application would be set.
