Johannesburg - Two traffic officers have been arrested for fraud and theft at Machadodorp, Mpumalanga police said on Tuesday.

The officers and other two men were arrested and released on warning on Monday.

Colonel Leonard Hlathi said police saw a refrigerated truck stationary at the side of a road on Monday evening. The traffic officers, who were on duty, were talking to the driver.

"They noticed a transaction between the traffic officials and the truck drivers, in which an unknown box was handed to the traffic officials."

The box was later found to contain refrigerated chicken meat.

The four men were expected to appear at the Machadodorp Periodical Court on 8 January.
