Johannesburg - Two people have been murdered in separate crimes in Mpumalanga, police said on Wednesday.

A 46-year-old security guard at the Lamulelani High School, in Hazyview, was killed during a robbery at the school on Tuesday night, police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi said.

They broke into the school, beat the guard to death, and stole groceries from the storeroom, he said.

In the second case, a woman was found hanged from a tree on the farm Oorkot, near White River, on Tuesday.

Hlathi said it appeared she was assaulted before being hanged.
