Cape Town - Municipal workers who had finished working for the day and where walking home along Old Main Road near to Winery Road on the way to Somerset West have been knocked down by a car.

Derrick Banks of ER24 reported that emergency personnel found seven of the municipal workers lying in the road almost on top of each other. The uninjured workers had tried to help their injured friends.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that one person was in a critical condition, while six others had sustained moderate to serious injuries.

The seriously injured patient who was in a critical condition had no feeling in his legs, which led the paramedics to suspect that he may have suffered spinal damage and with possible broken bones. The patient was airlifted to Tygerberg Hospital by the ER24 Discovery Medicopter for rapid medical care.

The remaining patients were treated for suspected neck and back injuries and multiple cuts and abrasions. They were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

The driver was uninjured in the accident. The car was found near the accident scene.

Shame these poor people what a trauma.. hope they get the person responsible, I mean I'm sure they didn't do it intentionally, but one still needs to be accountable.
