Pretoria - A murder-accused man has married his wife in the same dock where he is facing his trial.

Alex de Koker, 49, is the owner of a game ranging camp where Raymond Buys, 15, died after being allegedly tortured to death, reported Beeld.

De Koker married Johanna Marais, 30, whom he apparently met on a social network before his arrest some time ago.

Family spokesperson Hannes van Zyl said:  “They have actually been planning the wedding for some time but the first time that we approached the court for permission it was denied because Alex was still locked up.

But they approached the court again and this time permission was granted.

Van Zyl said the bride’s mother had brought her own reverend from Klerksdorp to preside over the ceremony.

“Only Alex and his bride, both their mothers and myself were at the service. They filled in the necessary paper work outside court,” said Van Zyl.

“Alex got married in the same dock in the court where, minutes before, he was facing the court case. He was taken down to the cells immediately afterwards.”
