Pietermaritzburg - The shotgun used to kill Shanduka Coal mine manager Tim Green was pointed out by a murder accused, the KwaZulu-Natal High Court heard on Wednesday.

Detective Sergeant Eric Eman said he and other officers had taken in the then suspects Siyabonga Mhlungu, 28, and Mfanakhona Masiteng, 23, shortly after Green was fatally wounded as he arrived at his home on his farm on 11 August last year.

Despite head wounds Green had made cellphone calls to friends, asking them to call police and emergency services. By the time help arrived he was dead.

Eman said Mhlungu took him and colleagues to an empty house and retrieved the shotgun, and shotgun and revolver cartridges from the top of a cupboard.

Eman said the shotgun had belonged to Green. Previous evidence given was that it was stolen from Green's home before the murder.

The policemen then went to a shack in which Masiteng lived and found Green's cellphones in a sock.

Mhlungu and Masiteng have pleaded not guilty to Green's murder and robbery.

The case continues.
