Nelspruit - An Mpumalanga woman begged for her life before she was shot dead, the Nelspruit Circuit Court heard on Wednesday.

Captain Freddy Magagula told the court about a hit on Gloria Mdluli in 2009.

He took a statement from murder accused Lucky Smanga Nkosi, 39, on 9 June last year.

On 27 September 2009, Wanda Masuku and Jan Mamabolo had arrived at Nkosi's house asking him to accompany them to do a "job" in Masoyi, Magagula testified.

"Nkosi said after he had asked Masuku what kind of a job they were going to do, he replied [that] they would talk on the way because a neighbour had appeared and they did not want him to hear their conversation," he said.

They left in Masuku's bakkie and Nkosi and Bhutbhut Gama sat at the back of the bakkie while Mamabolo and Masuku sat in front.

Magagula told the court that on arrival at Masoyi, the men went to Masuku's home where they met his mother, who offered them R10 000.

"Nkosi stated the mother said the money was payment for the murder of Mdluli, whom she accused of being responsible for the death of her husband," he said.

"After they went out and waited in the bakkie, Masuku's sister followed them and handed the cash to him.

They drove to Mdluli's house."

"Gama pointed a firearm at her and shot her four times", Magagula stated.

The trial continues.
