Cape Town - The body of a woman found dumped in a field in Kuils River three years ago is yet to be identified.

The partially decomposed half naked body was found in June 2012 in the overgrown bush in Old Nooiensfontein Road near the Stellenbosch Arterial, detectives confirmed.

The corpse was discovered by a pedestrian and has been in the mortuary at Tygerberg Hospital ever since.

Provincial police spokesperson, Noloyiso Rwexana, said the woman was dressed in a green T-shirt, blue denim pants, white and black striped socks and a dark jacket.

“A facial reconstruction of the deceased was compiled and a murder docket was opened for investigation,” she said.

Detectives said identifying the woman will allow them to retrace her final steps and greatly assist in the investigation.

It will also allow her family to bury her.

The body is believed to have been lying on the field for a week before being discovered and the woman does not match the identity of any person reported missing at the time.

Contact investigating officer Captain Adrian Pretorius on 082 777 8499 with information.
