Johannesburg - Police were still searching on Wednesday for the killers of a Lenasia community leader.

"We are doing our best in terms of this investigation," Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.

He said the police were following up information received.

Molana Iqbal Hassan, the imam of the Masjid Siddique, a mosque in Lenasia Extension 10, was stabbed to death by robbers who broke into his house on Sunday.

Makhubela said the four robbers placed Hassan, his wife and their children in separate rooms.

"They demanded money and other things. They stabbed the man in the head and took some of the electrical appliances from the house."

The other members of the family were not injured.

To answer your question YES they will do it to any priest of any religion. Crime does not ask for race, culture or religion. May Allah be with his family in these trying times.

Yes he was only targeted so he could be robbed, Places of Religion are easy targets like farmers, to rob, and criminals are out looking for opportunities like job seekers. I was watching that crime programme of that Father Sham who was also brutally killed by someone he knew and had treated with nothing but kindness and respect and given food to and money.
