Neighbours shocked at next door porn

2012-09-03 09:08

Durban - Residents in a Durban apartment block felt sorry for their neighbours who had recently lost their jobs - until they found out they were shooting porn movies during the day.

The couple, who were not identified, apparently started making pornographic films during the day when most of their neighbours were away at work, reported the TimesLive.

But neighbours noticed the beautiful women streaming in and out of the flat, especially some extremely young ones, and started complaining about the loud music which was believed to be playing to drown out “other sounds”.

A neighbour said she thought all the people coming to the flat were just friends concerned for the couple.

"We believed that they were just an ordinary couple and we felt really sorry for them when they lost their jobs," the neighbour said.

After about six months, rumours started up about the way in which the couple were still able to pay the rent and buy fancy clothes while being out of work. The films were apparently being sold at a local shopping centre.

After a complaint with the landlord, the couple was evicted.

A film and publication board spokesperson said only licensed distributors could sell or distribute porn.

Ppl should start minding their business, so what if they were doing this, more importanltly this was concent, so WTF!

      lorain.maseko - 2012-09-03 09:43

Exactly, they were not hurting anyone, they were utiliozing theirs skills to make ends meet, the neighbours really should mind their own business

      dakey.ras.73 - 2012-09-03 10:07

If minding your own business includes having to listen to your neighbour's loud music all day because of constant banging... then no, they shouldn't need to 'mind their own business'. May a shebeen open up next to your house. Then follow your own advice.

      tebo.go.5 - 2012-09-03 10:11

As per report, this used to happen during the day whilst everyone is away, that to me shows that they were very considerate of others. "After about six months, rumours started up about the way in which the couple were still able to pay the rent and buy fancy clothes while being out of work." - this to me just spells out being nosy

      koo.doyle - 2012-09-03 10:20

I agree, at least they're trying to make a living, its not for me to approve or not, it's not my business. Dakeyras you are not only extremely rude, but highly judgmental. Surely asking them to keep the noise levels down would have been the first step? Your equating this to a shebeen is ridiculous. Is it your assertion then, that 'scantily clad women' are as dangerous as shebeen drunks. Outrageous.

      jody.beggs - 2012-09-03 10:23

@Dakeyras jealous much. Sex is not a sin , only if you "believe" in faerie tales ...

      dakey.ras.73 - 2012-09-03 10:54

@Tebo: Neighbours complained about the loud noise. I know its a mind shattering concept Tebo, but many people (particularly mothers) actually raise children at home. Kind of difficult to do so (e.g. put your kid to sleep) having to listen to your neighbours particular choice of porno music all day long. We have very specific laws about running ANY type of business in a residential area, particularly to respect the rights of EVERYONE involved. @Koo I can only suggest you read up a little more about the industry, the drug use and yes the abuse that accompanies the lifestyle. I guess it is also wholly acceptable that these porn vid's are sold at a local shopping centre as opposed to a dedicated adult store?

      koo.doyle - 2012-09-03 11:19

Dakeyras, was there any suggestion that drugs and abuse were a factor here? Who knows what the exact circumstances. Desperate times call for desperate measures sometimes. The article does not stipulate exactly where the videos were being sold, only at the shopping centre, but your outrage seems to imply that you think they were being sold at 'Toys R Us' or similar.

      dakey.ras.73 - 2012-09-03 11:42

@Koo I don't particularly care what folk want to do in their own privacy. Assuming that they did not exploit others (questionable going according to the article) they're entitled to do whatever they like behind closed doors. In this care however not only did their actions effect their neighbours, but they also felt the need to share their 'privacy' with others in an inappropriate fashion by distributing their activities through an illegal channel. They did not sell their video's to an adult video store, they distributed these via someone at the LOCAL shopping centre. That really doesn't strike me as anyone too considerate of how their actions might affect others, in fact based on how they spent their income on 'fancy clothes' (instead of say... saving up for another rainy day) and employed very young actresses, these folk come across as quite self centred. If the shoe fits.

      lorain.maseko - 2012-09-03 13:30

@ TEBO.GO right on point. Dakeras they were not disturbing anyone,if you are one of those people that are bothered about how your neighbour affords their clothes and their bond then you need a bloody hobby

      koo.doyle - 2012-09-03 13:30

Yes, and as their actions affected their neighbours, wouldn't the solution be to ask them to tone down the noise? You clearly DO care what they do behind closed doors. "The films were apparently being sold at a local shopping centre." That is the ONLY information given. Your remarks are pure conjecture. Is the fact that they are distributing it illegally what your objection is based on? It's hard to tell, as your story keeps on changing. If people want to buy smut, they will. Does it affect me in any way? NO.

      dakey.ras.73 - 2012-09-03 14:16

@Koo: Why would you assume their neighbours' didn't do this? Do you actually think they sat quietly for 6 months too shy to ask them to turn down their music or at least complain to the supervisor after the first few days? Clearly they weren't going to oblige, not without making it blatantly obvious what they were up to. As for distribution of material, if I wanted to buy porn, I'll go into an adult video store or go online once the kids are asleep. I don't particularly want myself or my family to be approached by some porn vendor outside of Spar for goodness sakes. Sorry for being a prude, but I just so happen to think this world is a better place if the guy at the traffic light sticks to selling me cell phone chargers instead of a DVD of my beer bellied neighbour humping his girlfriend. Time and Place.

      shanleigh.sewsanker - 2012-09-04 09:49

sounds like you cant have sex in your own house? really mind your own business!

  • isabel.ashe.7 - 2012-09-03 09:29

      jacowium - 2012-09-03 10:03

      You're jumping to conclusions, Goboza.

      Blackpoison - 2012-09-03 10:07

@Goboza..."extremely young ones" hardly indicates children or the making of child porn.

  • tinotenda.panashe - 2012-09-03 09:31

Yoh, talk of the best job in the world; doing what ordinary people pay to enjoy and now getting it for free and getting paid - this is a win, win situation. But you didn't put the address!

  • Barefoot - 2012-09-03 09:33

Note to prospective entrepreneurs - don't buy fancy clothes

  • PETESKEAT - 2012-09-03 09:39

      Absolutely

      lara.vanrooyen.1 - 2012-09-03 21:10

  • khalidah.karan - 2012-09-03 09:39

This is hilarious, totaly made my monday lol.

  • bomb.technician.5 - 2012-09-03 09:44

They should be commended for trying something at least to survive...not running to the nearest street corner to start begging. If the "actors" were of legal age and took part at their own discretion, then what's the problem? Just homemade private movies done and made by consenting adults. Neighbors were probably just jealous cause they weren't invited to join the party!!!

  • Pixi3kid - 2012-09-03 09:50

They were not stealing, they were not murdering, they found a way to make a living! not matter if ppl agree with it or not... there are worse ways they could have gone about it. People should keep their noses out to others business. REALLY now they are back to square one... actually less than one cause now they are homeless too.

      bielie.vanzyl - 2012-09-04 18:10

Hulle's homeless? Rerig? Ken jy die mense? Of weet jy sommer net intuitief dat hulle nie ander blyplek gekry het nie? I could go onabout moral standards, etc., but what do I know? After all, I'm just a narrow-minded, bigoted prude who would like his daughter to make her living with her talent and not her genitals. Ditto for my son.

      Pixi3kid - 2012-09-05 12:03

Free will, if they want to do it and consent to it? or do you prefere they turned to STEALING AND MURDERING? im not saying Porn is the way to go but at least they didnt turn to crime! And dont tell me you have never watched Porn before, I can tell you know when you did you didnt give 2 ticks about who's daughter that might have been! Point is the ppl that came there, did so on their own will. No one forced them and it wasnt Child porn either(thank goodness for that) Whether they got a place or not... they were kicked out because ppl couldnt keep their nose out of their business and that is just not on!

Loud music and strangers moving in and out of the complex is obviously the neighbours problem…..but surely how they were paying their rent and spoiling themselves with beautiful clothes is non of their business....

This so sooo funny! Jeez, why complain, just join in.lol

  • marc.rule - 2012-09-03 10:06

  • diana.gill.18 - 2012-09-03 10:12

Ha-ha-ha that's nearly the same thing my good christian neighbor tells about me:D If to believe her its very strange how a young (relatively young of course) woman can stay at home all day long and earn enough money to maintain a certain lifestyle. Oh yes, in addition to all i am a bad smoker and love devil's music (read rock'n'roll).

  • jeremyjja - 2012-09-03 10:20

U c, I think they read fifty shades of grey! lol....

  • thandim - 2012-09-03 10:28

Okay how they are getting money is non of the neightbours or "anyone" and they were considerate because they waited for everyone to go to work...And its not as if they were vandalising the premises they were renting...or did the shooting in public. i.e parking, coridor etc

      Anthea - 2012-09-03 19:22

No , I'm sure they're quite sorry. Now there's nothing to skinder about.

  • valkyriaza - 2012-09-03 12:52

Anyone who ever had to stay in a block of flats or in a complex will tell you, that loud music whether played by day or night on a regular basis interferes with others' right to peace and quiet. It doesn't matter is they are playing 'Barney the purple dinosaur's greatest hits' or Rhianna's new songs drowning the sounds of false lovemaking. If your neighbours can hear it on a regular basis and they complained(and people do if they cannot spend a day at home without hearing someone else's music all day long), be prepared to get warning from your body corporate and whatever other actions that can be taken. Also, lots of unfamiliar people accessing the complex - security does become an issue. One may visiting friends, the other is someone pretending to be a legit visitor whilst 'scoping out' the flats for security weaknesses. There are also the regulations regarding conducting business in a residential area, even if your neighbours aren't nosy or don't mind the music. Point is: The couple should have moved to a studio to do those movies.

      heather.stip.7 - 2012-09-03 13:46

Thanks for putting it into perspective! They should have moved to a studio to do their movies. Otherwise, I was beginning to wonder what all the fuss was about. At least, as other readers say, they weren't hijacking, stealing (only from the government if they weren't paying taxes, so that doesn't count!). I wonder if I would have the balls to do something like that if I lost my job. I know I didn't the first time round!

      valkyriaza - 2012-09-03 14:53

@heather.stip.7 I think what people miss is that at the end of the day people want to relax and enjoy their home. I reckon a great deal of people don't really care what they were doing, just as long as they weren't noisy or compromised the security of their complex.

      brendon.nel.7 - 2012-09-03 18:30

That's exactly why I loathe complexes! The neighbours always have to know your business and judge your character by the clothes you are wearing and the friends you entertain. No personal life to occupy them so they stalk their neighbours to keep their tea talks interesting. May I never become that desperate for attention and drama.

  • michael.j.anderson.144 - 2012-09-03 16:59

How quick some run to the law and cry "illegal". Law is something written by those in control. Do u know anal sex is illegal? The law is in your home, in your bed, dictating what 2 consenting adults can and can't do? It used to be illegal for a black person to sit on a bench only allowed for white people. It's all about control. Stop giving your power over to the "law" so easily.

      pula.betsho - 2012-09-04 23:14

Michael thanks for the insight, blacks were not allowed to sit on benches.......that's why whites have flat pressed bums while blacks have a big raised ass?

Gee isn't it wonderful the liberal attitude that is given such free reign by just about every commentator here. Of course I can make no claim to sainthood but here's a question for all you people applauding the "upright, hard working, adaptable" movie making entrepreneurs - Ask yourselves this - just how complimentary of these peoples efforts would you be if your wife, girlfriend or daughter (for the men) or husbands, boyfriends or sons (for the women) were participants next door? Now think before you spew and if your liberalism urges you to ooze support for these "pillars of society" I would suggest that you are lacking in the most basic forms of decency.

      dexter.morganson - 2012-09-04 00:16

You are wasting your time trying to preach to these people. Simple fact man, half the people on this site are more sick than the people they are protecting. It's not just this article, it's pretty much every article published on this site. I would be willing to bet that they are the same group of people that supports the idea of making prostitution and marijuana use legal. In that regard, do you honestly think some of them would even be bothered if their daughters were in one of those films? Hell no, they'd probably buy an 84inch just to watch her closer. The corrective step in our society starts at home, period. Theirs is sick, so you can easily draw a conclusion that this country is going downhill faster than one would give it credit for. Let them be...
