New group executives for SABC

2012-10-20 20:05

Johannesburg - The SA Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has appointed two new group executives, the broadcaster announced on Saturday.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said Verona Duwarkah was appointed as group executive of the television division while Lesie Ntloko was appointed to the same position in the radio division.

Their appointments were effective immediately.

"The board and management are confident that Ms  Duwarkah and Mr Ntloko will execute their duties effectively, in order to provide compelling, informative and entertaining programming, in the competitive environment in which the SABC operates," Kganyago said.

What is UP with this maniacal clinging to SABC and SAA in the face of all reason? Let them go their own way, set them (and the tax-payer) free

How come no mention of their respective C.V.s / Experience / Suitability for the job? Silly me, I forgot, this is SABC we are talking about here .......

Ha ha that is funny, would you have us believe these two fools are going to turn it around, not a chance in hell

  • declan.kelly.54 - 2012-10-20 23:31

SABC has always, and always will be crap. 3 TV channels of cheap, over-regulated rubbish, a few crappy, over-regulated radio stations, and a legislated payment structure that can blacklist you if you don't want to pay to view the propaganda machine.

Oh I wish they would reinstate Phil Molefe. Much has been said about this man, but I was fortunate to get to know him well, re publicity in our town over the years. He is a true gentelman, honest, unstintingly so, and in his time, he created some of the programmes that are still on air. He is sitting at home, sidelined by the ???? beacuse he chose to do his job well. It is very sad.

I wonder what thorough recruitment policy was chosen. I suppose entry level criteria, tow the line and don't get caught.

  • sandy.langenstrass - 2012-10-21 10:38

I give them +- 5/6 months and what is happening now (re-election) will be happening is just getting so predicable. Are these new appointed members QUALIFIED to do the job?

  • clive.kihn - 2012-10-21 11:09

No doubt more ANC-deployed cadres, to earn millions for wasting OUR money on this useless organisation. Both Manuel and Gordhan have expressed concern (too timid to condemn outright?) about the policy of appointing people to positions for which they are unqualified and/or unsuitable - the prime reason for poor service delivery. But I guess neither of these gents is black enough to be heeded.
