Newborn, mom trapped on snowy mountain

Cape Town – Western Cape disaster response teams responded to a call about a newborn baby on the snowy mountains near Matjiesfontein, in the Karoo, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said paramedics were deployed on a military helicopter to recover the baby and its mother.
The mother and child will be taken to the Beaufort West Hospital where a medical practitioner will examine their conditions and provide the necessary treatment.
The baby was born late on Saturday, 14 July 2012.
