Johannesburg - Nine people died in four separate accidents on Sunday in Mpumalanga, the provincial community safety department said.

The accidents are suspected to be caused by human error and bad weather conditions, spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said.

"The first accident saw three people losing their lives after two vehicles collided head-on between Grobblersdal and Middleburg," said Mmusi.

In the second accident, three people died in Witbank near the N4 after a vehicle crashed into a wall.

"Another accident happened between Kriel and Bethal where one passenger died."

Mmusi said that two people died after the driver of the mini-bus taxi lost control of the vehicle on the N3 road near Ermelo.
