North West inmates on the run

2012-10-25 18:16

Johannesburg - A manhunt has been launched for two men who escaped from police custody while being transported between North West prisons, police said on Thursday.

They were being taken from the Potchefstroom prison to Stilfontein and Klerksdorp prisons when they escaped last Friday, said Sergeant Thulani Ngubane.

"The two managed to escape through a hole, made with an unknown object, in the roof of a state vehicle truck they were travelling in."

Police noticed they were missing upon arriving at Stilfontein.

One of them, Sbusiso Mato Mkhatshwa, 27, had been arrested in connection with a murder charge.

The second fugitive, 22-year-old Oompie Tshothego Motale, was arrested in connection with a rape charge.

They were both detained at the Potchefstroom prison.

Community members were advised not to confront the men as they were considered dangerous.

Circumstances related to the escape were being investigated.

Thanks ANC. Just another very good example of what type of policemen you employ. They were either in on the escape and/or obviously worth nothing!!!! Hopefully these 2 animals don't kill or rape too many people befor they are behind bars again. (And stay there)
