Kimberley – Two Northern Cape men have each been given double life sentences for raping women in a veld and a home in 2012.
Petrus van Nel and Vincent Long, both 31, were sentenced in the Kimberley Regional Court on Monday, according to a SA Police Service statement.
In the early hours of January 22 2012, they used knives to threaten two women and a man who were walking home in Douglas.

The women were then taken to a nearby house where they were raped separately.
According to the statement, the women reported the matter to police and the men were arrested in the vicinity hours later.
They were convicted a week ago.
Van Nel was handed two life sentences and an extra 20 years' imprisonment, while Long was handed two life sentences and an extra 10 years imprisonment.
All the sentences would run concurrently.
