Nurse arrested for raping pregnant woman

2012-10-01 13:33

Johannesburg - A male nurse has been arrested for allegedly raping a pregnant patient at an Eastern Cape hospital, the provincial health department said on Monday.

The 25-year-old complainant was admitted to Taylor Bequest hospital in Mount Fletcher last week with complications during her pregnancy.

"It is alleged that the patient complained about constipation and requested help from the nurse," said spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo.

"[The nurse] assisted her on Friday and when she again experienced the same problem on Saturday, he allegedly ordered the patient to go to the toilet.

"That is where the alleged rape took place."

Kupelo said the nurse, aged 45, was due in court in Matatiele on Monday.

The Eastern Cape health department was planning to suspend him.

"We will not allow him to consult with the patients until the investigations are completed," said Kupelo.

Lol. The world is really taking the other shape now. Raping a pregnant woman? Oh!! Lemme guess he has a mental problem

      ab.normal.961 - 2012-11-04 21:25

These types of incidents happen because male nurses are used for female patiences. When it comes to sexuality men & women are miles apart, most men are generally stimulated by visual means but a very small percentage of females are. So how the hell can you get men nursing females when they are so easily stimulated by seeing female nakedness. It is immoral decisions by hospitals, but it happens as simple male/female facts like these are ignored.

      ab.normal.961 - 2012-11-04 21:32

This is criminal, and the hospital should be held accountable as well for allowing male nurses to attend to females. This type of event has happened many times in the past and it was always the same male nurse, female patient. Like everything in this country, these actions in the past are not reported.

Well, this is sickening,I have observed a few articles and read a few. Now I wonder whether this is also going to be blamed on poverty as the murders that have been conducted up to now. The reason why I mention this is based on the Article "15 000 lives snuffed out" I found this fascinating due to the fact that some people blame this sort of crime on poverty. Well I just think the justification on this is hypocritical and uncalled for. As I said Poverty and this sort of crime and sick barbaric mindset have to do with the upbringing and culture. Well don't look any further than Africa, this is the typical mindset. the color of the book is encrypted in the same color through out Africa. Poverty is the reason for steeling not murder and rape. Ohh and ANC I hope you record this stastick in your so called better results in crime!

Phillip follow the case and you will see this will be blamed on apartheid, what i say this is a sick person and there is no cure but an injection (the lethal kind) or even better death by stoning, our gov is to soft c#ck to reinstate the death penalty cause they will lose so much support they might even lose to the oppisition

Rape was punishable by death, still is in some countries. What I don't understand is why the rapists target pregnant women, very old women and babies???\r\nI am afraid this is an indication of a very sick society.

  • issa.kabudula - 2012-10-01 14:16

This is the unfortunate circumstances which men and women r experiencing in this country. Men rapping gogos, kids, girls, mamas and even pregnant women - may the blame still must go to apartheid? I don't think so - our cultures are to blamed, our new way of life where we copy every thing even if it is an human behavior provided our hearts have desired it. - 2012-10-01 14:30

How can Apartheid ever have been blamed for rape? Not even at the height of Apartheid was it Apartheid's fault.

  • lea.jacobs.9 - 2012-10-01 14:29

Perhaps it is time to go back to the old system where only female nurses were allowed to treat female patients.

  • kitty.vanjaarsveld - 2012-10-01 14:54

Lea.Jacobs, exactly, how on earth can a male nurse be helping women patients, the hospital is to blame for that and then the rape itself of a pregnant women is immoral and so wrong. I think the injection, the lethal one, must be put to test.

  • jan.debeer1 - 2012-10-01 14:58

It is utterly stupid of hospitals to use male nurses in wards for woman.

  • Vic - 2012-10-01 14:59

I find it very weird when someone doing such act in "public". By "public" I mean usually hospital toilets are inside and there's always people occupying them. So there's completely no privacy at all even if the act was done in mutual agreement. Did the lady cry or was she dosed so that she doesn't scream? This article doesn't tell. However, the rapist should face justice.
