Okah moved after failed prison escapes

2014-04-04 09:30

Johannesburg - Nigerian terrorist Henry Okah has been moved twice after failed prison escapes with inmates, The Star reported on Friday.

In February, Okah and other inmates, including Sunday rapist Jaco Steyn, attempted to escape from Leeuwkop Prison in Midrand. Okah was then moved to New Lock Prison in Pretoria and again hatched another plan to escape with other prisoners.

The information emerged this week in documents before the North Gauteng High Court in a failed application brought by Okah's wife Azuka and his lawyer Idemudia Uriesi. The two claim Okah disappeared from New Lock Prison and they had no idea where he was. They believed he was taken to an undisclosed prison.

Uriesi said he heard rumours that Okah was taken to Kokstad, and accused correctional services of malice and having a hidden agenda.

Uriesi asked that Okah be immediately returned to New Lock Prison.

The department's director Reuben Mbuli said Okah was moved to Kokstad for security reasons because he was again involved in a prison break. He and other inmates were transferred to Kokstad on 13 March. He said the department was within its rights to move Okah and nobody had the right to question it.

Why is a convicted Nigerian in a SA Prison? His detention is going to lead to the loss of innocent lives, either in a escape bid or a hostage situation.Send him back to where he comes from.

this international criminals seem to like South Africa...is it because people steal public funds, rape, lie to parliament, compromise the country's security by authorizing their friends to land at a military base and many other things and they get away with it all...? I'm not mentioning names

Our legal system needs to make South Africa a scary destination for foreign criminals. If foreigner criminals come and ply their trade here, they should pay the supreme penalty. I am quite sure we will not only have fewer illegals coming across our borders, our crime rates will drop too.

How I wish people could just separate issues! We all flabbergasted with what's happening in Nkandla and we are shocked at how naive our government is but to dilute issues with an attempt to discredit the so called "Black government " is even nasty! May I appeal to white folks a selective few white folks on this forum ! We blacks are also affected by all the government shenanigans ! The Okah issue is a different case altogether it has got nothing to do with Nkandla !
