@Jason the rules in place but people the likes of Mageza drive as they wish but what is the difficulty in revoking the drivers lisence of the offenders?

  • bhululu.mchenge - 2013-01-03 14:00

@ jason.kodak, The government was not driving that Taxi.

Jason is right Bhululu , it is goverments responsibility to provide a safe, reliable public transport system. This they have failed to do. Cramming people into these deathtraps is not the answer.

i drove past the accident this morning, my sympathies to the families left behind, of those that died. Taxi owners should take responsibility for the conditions of their vehicles, and traffic police should ensure public transport meets international standards. Perhaps an advance school of driving should be established for taxi and bus drivers, where they can be correctly trained.

Taxi owners are Capitalists pigs interested only in making money (and they pay zero in taxes) - zero safety standards, but goodness me, let there be 1 mine death and the useless Govt are screaming that they will close the mines down!!!

Now let's see if we can get this right. Headline says one dies, second paragraph says two men die. Last paragraph should surely read "no other vehicles were involved". Great reporting.

reporting almost as good as the driving ( Sigh)

  • livin.daylights.3 - 2013-01-03 14:25

Headline reads #: 1 Dies as taxi hits tree, yet in the article it states that two people were killed. Where did the 2nd person come from??? I hope it wanst another goat

      gerald.parker.3956 - 2013-01-03 14:46

The 2nd one could have been in the tree and fell out and then died

The stats show that a big number of accidents involve only one car. Most road deaths are pedestrians. More than half the deaths are alcohol related. Most of these incidents could have been avoided. How do other countries deal with the problem? They have severe laws to deal with alcohol abuse when driving. License and roadworthy testing enforced vigorously. Pedestrian education. And most of all they have taxis that have respect for the rules of the road and traffic cops who don't take bribes.
