Palestinian ambassador to SA dies

Johannesburg - The Palestinian ambassador to South Africa, Ali Halimeh, died in Pretoria this weekend, according to a report on Sunday.

The SABC reported that it was believed that he choked to death.

Halimeh was admitted to the Little Company of Mary Hospital in Pretoria on Saturday, following chest complaints, but was later discharged.

He had recently had a stomach operation, the broadcaster reported.

The Palestinian embassy was not immediately available for comment.
