Parents die after saving child from fire

Cape Town - A Cape Town mother and father died saving their child from a blaze at their home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A witness said one of the parents had managed to bend a security gate back far enough to let the child run out to safety but the gap wasn’t big enough for the adults, the Cape Argus reported.

Smoke inhalation was the likely cause of the couple’s demise.

Their names and ages were not released.

Their shack in Malawi Camp near Elsies River caught fire at around 05:00 on Tuesday morning.
It was unclear whether the saved child was a girl or a boy.

A city spokesperson said a report was being compiled on the incident and more details would be available later.

2 Heroes just arrived in Heaven - I can't even begin to express how much I respect what you guys did for your little one. You have made the world a better place through your brave actions - may you Rest in peace.

What happens if they weren't Christian? Surely even if you're a prime example of a good human being and don't believe in God/Jesus you don't get access through the pearly gates? Faith is the 1 prerequisite for Heaven to the best of my knowledge. Not to take anything away from this heartbreaking story. Those 2 are heroes. But a simple "Rest in Peace" is more accommodating to the majority of people on the planet.

@Havokreeka. When a Christian wishes the parents a heavenly home it is his choice. He believes in it and he therefore there expresses his best wishes he can. It got NOTHING to do in what you believe in. You could have comment "Rest in Peace", but you MUST try to justify your disbelieve by criticize this commentator. ....and this now comes from a disbeliever where some of them always say religions force there believes down on other. If so, point taken, but than you have just done the same. Hippocrates????
