Durban - Mystery surrounds the slaying of a Durban man, gunned down while dropping off passengers on Lena Ahrens [Manning] Road in Glenwood on Tuesday night.

It is understood 39-year-old Samul Hassani sustained a single gunshot wound to the neck, fired in his direction as he pulled into a parking lot.

His brother purportedly witnessed the incident.

Netcare911’s Chris Botha said the events leading up to the shooting were uncertain.

“Exact detail of the cause of the shooting is still speculative and will remain the subject of a police investigation,” he said.

“Netcare911 paramedics received the call at 22:48 and when they arrived found a man still seated in his vehicle in a parking lot. After investigation it was found he had sustained a fatal wound and had passed away before our arrival,” Botha added.

Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane confirmed the incident.

“It was reported that Hassani was dropping off passengers when he was fatally shot.  The motive for the attack and the identity of the suspect or suspects are unknown.”

Zwane said the docket had been handed over to the detective branch at the Umbilo police station.
