Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

Johannesburg - A man died after being run over by two cars in Newlands, west of Johannesburg, paramedics said on Saturday. 

The incident occurred on Friday night, said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring. 

"ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the patient lying in the fast lane of the road," Meiring said.

Witnesses at the scene said he was run over by two vehicles.

Neither of the drivers were present at the scene. 

"On assessment, paramedics found that the patient had sustained multiple injuries to his head, neck, chest and pelvis."

He died on the scene.

Police were investigating the incident.
