Pedestrian killed on N2 in Cape Town

Cape Town - A woman was killed when she was hit by a car on the N2 in Macassar near Cape Town, paramedics said on Monday.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said the woman, in her 40s, was struck by the car at about 18:00 on Sunday.

"The woman sustained very traumatic and fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene."

Banks said the driver of the car was not injured.

    Well done driver for taking out another oxygen thief. Firstly, there are pedestrian bridges for a reason. Secondly, it is illegal to be on a national freeway. Therefore being lazy, stupid, and a criminal offender equals death. Pity many others like her don't face the same fate.

      Dear Joe..have you considered that this was a human being that was killed. In many ways you are justifiably angry because this person could have cost innocent people there lives.

    This death is tragic, of course, but there are rules and laws to keep the roads safe for pedestrians and other vehicles travelling at high speed. Unfortunately there is total lawlessness in SA and the authorities are to be blamed 100% because they are too occupied with bribes and corruption so that they are not focussed on law enforcement!
