A MAN was severely injured when he was bitten by a dog while walking on a street in Eastwood yesterday morning.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha, a man in his thirties sustained critical injuries after he was attacked by a dog in Deodar Road, Eastwood, yesterday morning before 10 am.

“A report from the scene indicates that the man was walking past the premises when the dog attacked him. However, exact detail as to the cause off the attack is still speculative and will remain a subject for police investigation,” Botha said.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man with severe injuries.

“After working feverishly to stabilise the patient at the scene, they [paramedics] transported him to a local hospital for the care that he required.”

According to residents in the area, the man was walking to work when he was attacked.

The owner of the dog was not at his premises yesterday.
