Durban - A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident in Springfield Park, KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said on Saturday.

"A 40-year-old pedestrian tragically lost his life following a hit and run... accident on Umgeni Road in Springfield Park in the early morning hours," Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said.

The man was already dead when paramedics arrived at the scene, she said.

Meanwhile, another person was killed after being hit by a car on the M13 in Gillitts.

Paramedics found the lifeless body on the road, Steinmann said.

"Paramedics immediately started with resuscitation but tragically the pedestrian succumbed due to the extensive injuries sustained during the accident," she said.

The police would investigate both cases.
