Poacher shot dead in Kruger Park

2012-10-08 21:42

Johannesburg - A rhino poacher was shot dead and another seriously wounded in the Kruger National Park, SanParks said on Monday.

"Park rangers made contact with three armed, suspected rhino poachers at the Crocodile Bridge section of the park on Saturday evening and a shoot-out ensued," spokesperson Ike Phaahla said.

"One man was fatally wounded, another sustained gunshot wounds, while the third person managed to escape."

A .375 hunting rifle and ammunition were collected at the scene.

The injured man was under police guard at a nearby hospital as investigations continued.

      By BLOODIE time...

      PrettyUsefulArt - 2012-10-08 22:52

@ tsotsibaby - Oh, the irony!!! Nowhere in the article did it state it was a black dude. Know something you shouldn't?

      John - 2012-10-08 23:00

Tie them to a tree and let the rhino's have a go at them. B*sterds!

      sally.lewitt - 2012-10-08 23:00

@tsotsibaby.. Get your head out of you @rse you stupid person! Can't you read properly or are you purposely trying to stir cr@p..? Just wondering..

      jeremy002 - 2012-10-09 05:43

How did this tsotsibaby person know the poacher was black? Does he/she know the poacher? Is the colour of his/her skin even mentioned. Lovely bit of irony. Perfect in fact. Why is there always some clown who is ready to make a racial issue out of everything. Actually, this type is more dangerous than a rhino poacher.

      jeremy002 - 2012-10-09 05:52

So now, according to Tsotsibaby, it is the comrades that are doing the rhino killing. Ooops, Tsotsibaby, maybe you should not have let that vital piece of evidence out.

      merven.halo - 2012-10-09 08:04

Good news????? This is WONDERFUL news! Now they must sell his balls for chinese muti.

      nathan.g.moss - 2012-10-09 09:22

I hope the rangers kept the poaches nose as a trophy. I think we should spread the word that poaches body parts are good for muti, we can then sit back and watch them hunt each other.

      edward.d.beesley - 2012-10-09 10:16

@Juanpierre - on the contrary, this industry seems to be driven by whiteys - since you bring race into the issue - as evidenced by all our good vets, gamepark owners, chopper pilots, etc. currently facing charges for rhino poaching ... - 2012-10-09 11:31

I think the farmers are involved!!!

  • sharon.erwin.96 - 2012-10-08 21:47

Whoopie! Now don't go telling me it was poverty that made them do it!!!!! I am sick and tired of excuses for crime. They would have spared no mercy for the rhino they were out to kill, and deserve none in return.

  • PrettyUsefulArt - 2012-10-08 21:48

Finally some good news!!! Yay, yay, yay!!! Now that the elation's over comes the realisation that for every person killed or caught, another ten are waiting to take their place. Sigh. Sucks being a realist.

  • johan.joostesnr - 2012-10-09 08:14

Many people like this and yes, it sends a message out. But the poacher is trying to make a living and is most at risk of loosing his life. The real culprits are the middlemen and the people in the far East who organize these crimes. I know there's also the other side where poachers from S.A.'s neighbouring countries come in to poach for meat because they already killed most of their own game there. This is just a vicious circle and governments don't seem to be able to stop it.

      ettienne.hattingh - 2012-10-09 11:31

No. You are absolutely wrong. "Trying to make a living". Give me a break. You are condoning their actions.

  • mpho.pink1 - 2012-10-09 08:15

Servers him right, people don't listen and they don't learn! I bet he wished he could've just stayed home and bit his nails, shaved his hair off and plucked feathers from a few chickens to get the same keratin he died for.

  • avandehaar - 2012-10-09 08:26

GREAT!!! Kill them all! There is no space in our society for Rhino poachers.
