Police seize drugs, cash in Durban home

2013-02-16 16:03

Johannesburg - A police raid at an alleged drug dealer's house in Durban netted drugs worth R280 000 and over R200 000 in cash, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.

"Police received information about a huge consignment of drugs on the premises," said spokesperson Jay Naicker.

"The home was searched on Friday and pure cocaine powder, 1 000 pieces of rock cocaine as well as 600 packets of heroine were found... the drugs have an estimated value of R280 000. Over R200 000 in cash was also seized."

The owner of the house was not home at the time of the raid.

Naicker said the owner, a well-known alleged drug dealer, was arrested in January after police seized over R5m worth of drugs from the same house last month.

He is currently out on bail.

No arrests were made on Friday.

What do we have to say about that? out on bail while they got him with 5m drugs wow so now its ovias they will never find him again and he will still be productive at some area, they shouldn't have granted him a bail from the first start.

In Thailand they put mules to death but in South Africa they allow the employers of those mules out on bail. Ask yourself why the SA Govt won't sign a treaty allowing for mules to serve their time in South African jails while thousnad of foreigners are clogging our jails. The foreigners are allowed to vote for ANC in return for citizenship while the South Africans could possibly finger the politicians who are receiving kickbacks.

How can the police let drug dealers out on bail?

      lacrimosewolf - 2013-02-16 17:30

The police's job ends when they appear in court. Then it is up to Justice. So what is wrong with the police's case OR what is wrong with the rule book?

      raj.morar.1 - 2013-02-17 19:12

The police opposed bail, it was the Chatsworth Court who gave bail. And people, forget the lame jokes on this matter. Its a serious problem. The police in Chatsworth are doing an excellent job, but are let down by the courts.

  • Muhammed Khan - 2013-02-16 17:26

Yo racists, the guy in question is indian, not Nigerian...now direct your racist slurs in that group's direction. Let it all out now...

AND THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE DO DRUGS. SHOULD NEVER HAVE GOT BAIL THE LAST TIME. HAND THESE SWINES IMMEDIATELY.

  • bless.boswell - 2013-02-16 21:31

In other countries drug dealers are put to death. Rapists are stones or maybe hanged in public. In South Africa they get out on bail on both counts. What a lovely safe haven for criminals ...

  • reratiloem - 2013-02-16 21:34

With all the durgs in the house, where are the kids??

      gail.hayesbean - 2013-02-17 18:39

Out peddling the drugs and luring unsuspecting others into the murky world with promises of money.

  • Pete7930 - 2013-02-16 22:50

He paid the corrupt cops to release him on bail. Just like he orchestrated the drug bust at his home whilst he wasnt there. The police get the rewards and once again he will walk free.

      gail.hayesbean - 2013-02-17 18:41

Don't blame the cops, blame the justice system that allows them out on a technicality. I feel sorry for the cops - they get paid peanuts and risk their lives to catch these people and then the courts release them.

  • ditoare.gypsy - 2013-02-17 08:48

He wasn't there in the house when the police raid the house. This scum will deny the sh*t and say somebody is trying to frame him as he's out on bail

  • Tello Moleko - 2013-02-17 12:38

@Pete,you are stupid to such extend you dont even know that he was given bail by magistrate and prosecutor, also blame police for you being late at work coz police did not wake you in the morning

  • deepchund.ramchurren - 2013-02-18 19:32

Colleagues, don't be surprised at the guy being given bail when arrested, MONEY TALKS ALL NINE OFFICIAL LANGUAGES and sign language in our country.
