Prieska parents seek answers over principal

Bloemfontein - Prieska parents have written a letter to the Northern Cape education department for answers about the suspension of a town principal, the Volksblad newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The community wanted information about the suspension of the head of Prieska High School, Nicky Hand.

The newspaper reported that the letter followed the last minute cancellation of a meeting between the parents, the community and the department.

The parents felt the department was playing a "cat and mouse game" with pupils and the community on the matter.

Volksblad reported that no reasons had been given for Hand's suspension last week.

Parents handed the department a memorandum in Kimberley on Wednesday, asking for the reasons behind the suspension.

The department had promised to give answers at the cancelled meeting.

According to the newspaper, parents wanted to know whether Hand, also an accountancy teacher, could continue teaching the Grade 12 pupils ahead of the matric exams.

In a letter, a departmental spokesperson had promised the community he would take the matter up with the chief executive of the department when he returned from a ministerial meeting.

    I blame the DA

Blame your education. Prieska is in the Northern Cape as is stated in the article. Presumably the ANC caders there are too busy stealing to respond to letters.
