Johannesburg - Investigations into the deaths of the three pupils of the Emma Primary School in Winterveldt, north-west of Pretoria, are continuing, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

"We are still investigating the matter and await the outcome," police spokesperson Kabelo Marumo said.

The sisters had brought juice and cake to school and shared it with their friend.

There had been speculation that the food was contaminated.

Gauteng education department spokesperson Phumla Sekhonyane said the school ran a feeding scheme, but none of the children who ate this food fell ill.
