Pupil held for murder in Eastern Cape

2012-11-16 14:25

Johannesburg - A youth has died after he was stabbed, allegedly by another pupil at a school in Mncuncuzo, Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

The two youths, both aged 20, had an argument on the premises of the Zwelandile Senior Secondary School on Thursday when the stabbing happened, Major Ernest Sigobe said.

"It is alleged that the two students had a quarrel and a fight ensued which resulted in the death of Odwa Mpunqa... from the same village," said Sigobe.

Mpunqa died on his way to Butterworth Hospital. Police were investigating. The 20-year-old pupil was still being sought.

At the rate we're going, the "youth" will soon include some that need a zimmer frame to get around.

  • claudia.thackeray - 2012-11-16 15:16

How can the pupil still be sought when the headline line reads "Pupil held for murder in Eastern Cape"???????? 20 and still in school....failed 2 or three times to understand the workings of crime

  • pavheerden - 2012-11-16 15:21

So the heading reads "Pupil held for murder in Eastern Cape". The very last sentence reads, "The 20-year-old pupil was still being sought." So which one is it?

  • storm.trooper.125 - 2012-11-16 16:30

it runs in the family..both of them are in the 20's...mmm it says alot abt them.

      gavin.taylor.79 - 2012-11-16 17:20

His mum & dad are said to be most upset as they will have to take days off school to attend their son's trial ;-)

  • jay.heyns.1 - 2012-11-16 16:59

Looking at the headline and then at the last sentence of the article, it seems as if a 22 year old pupil wrote this.
