Cape Town - A little puppy has survived being thrown into a fire - and has been called Blitz by his rescuers.

The Cape Argus reported that a man, 22, was arrested for throwing the 6-week-old puppy into the fire. Blitz suffered second-degree burns to his paws and stomach.

The incident happened at the Drostersnes Proefplaas Vyeboom near Villiersdorp.

Blitz is receiving treatment at the Onrus Veterinary Clinic.

As soon as he is well again, a new home will be found for him.

      Nigel - 2012-07-05 09:17

What sick fool does a thing like this. Imagine what else he's capable of if he can do something like that.

      rbphiri - 2012-07-05 11:49

Why didn't they throw the accused into the fire, it will save the devil some space in hell; since it's already over populated by politicians. Such heinous acts of animal cruelty inevitably leads to such cruelty being acted upon humans, thus we ended up with a potential butth0le serial killer on the prowl. Sadly this young man will be sent for psychiatric treatment instead of doing jail time. Animal cruelty should also culminate in severe punishment

    "The Cape Argus reported that a man, 22, was arrested for throwing the 6-week-old puppy into the fire" . . . .A 22 yr old man ? He's not a man . . . He's a F*&king animal . . Give him to me, let me throw him into a fire !!!

      julie.j.vanrensburg - 2012-07-05 08:05

Marr, PLEASE refrain from insulting animals by comparing 3rd-grade species of sub-humanity to them - animals lead very orderly lives and never, but NEVER do to their own what many sub-humans do - rape their own young; commit treason; vandalise and contaminate their environment, to name but a few. And these sub-humans who do things like that should be given ecactly the same treatment as set oujt in the Old Testament - a tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye... guaranteed, reverting back to that law will ensure that crime, ALL crime will drop by at LEAST 80%. Poor little puppy I hope he or she will have full recovery and be given a good home by kind and loving people...

      Ray - 2012-07-05 08:43

Matt-we have 4 rescue dogs, one having had hot cooking oil thrown over it and a more loving dog you won't meet.So I agree with Julie-animals are much better than these sub-humans.

  • christo.stone - 2012-07-05 07:53

"people" who abuse animals should be given the maximum sentence! If I could have my way, they would suffer the same treatment as they like to dish out to animals that can't defend themselves. Garbage of the planet!

      mo.matt.14 - 2012-07-05 08:08

I agree with you Christo. I have always said that the harshest sentences in the country should be for those filth who harm children, elderly people, animals, or anything/anyone who cannot fend for themselves. What a sick monster you are if you can hurt a poor defenseless puppy, so inhumanely. But unfortunately the south african laws and punishments for animal cruelty are so lame, he would probably just get a small fine, because "it was just a dog". But I say, if you can hurt a defenseless animal without blinking, you will also without hesitation hurt another human being. He should be removed from society. We must respect ALL forms of life.

  • christopher.pool - 2012-07-05 07:54

I would pay good money to spend 5 minutes alone in a room with this piece of sh1t.

  • Smoke.ZN - 2012-07-05 08:02

This is so sad that something could do that to a puppy. Atleast the little one survived and that thing will get some justice done to him.

ya no there's evil people out there. how do u do that to a poor puppy?, u deserve to spend ur miserable life behind bars. if u can do this to a little puppy what more can u do to a human being. u are a danger to society they should lock u up and throw away the keys. sick bustard

      maureen.westran - 2012-07-05 09:08

Lock him up so he can have free food and accommodation for the rest of his life ? I say NO.

  • ethel.sleith - 2012-07-05 08:33

The laws protecting animals in this country are pathetic. Oh, what am I talking about?! There ARE no laws protecting animals in this country. We're too busy worrying about somone stopping with one wheel over a white line, or something equally ridiculous. Animals are found in horrendous conditions and shelter workers are not permitted to remove them? There should be a wholesale change to the law, giving responsible people the power to remove ANY animal who is not being fed, watered or being provided with adequate shelter, and the owners heavily punished - and I don't mean a slap on the wrist. Make them do community work in animal shelters. The SPCA would welcome a few extra hands to muck out the kennels.

  • fanievanvuuren.heynz - 2012-07-05 08:40

you bloody bastard i hope you burn in hell just a pity our animal act and laws are not strict enough - I hope you get haunted every single night for the rest of your life IDIOT

  • Erna - 2012-07-05 08:42

Unfortunately the law is not strict enough when sentencing people who are guilty of animal abuse. Having said that - why do we expect people to treat animals with love when our children are raped and abused?

  • jackal666.daniel - 2012-07-05 08:44

    I'll Take the little pup!

  • Pagel - 2012-07-05 08:47

  • Lindie - 2012-07-05 08:52

WHAT???!! How can any person do such a thing???? I can not be held responsible for my actions if I have to come accross something like that!!!! I will throw that man also in the fire!!!! He is not human at all!!! BASTARD!!!!

  • Hermann - 2012-07-05 08:56

Not even animals are safe anymore. What kind of people are we becoming in this country?

  • charlotte.kindla - 2012-07-05 09:08

  • paul.bester1 - 2012-07-05 09:16

  • lerato.kay.3 - 2012-07-05 09:53

It’s time to send the two adult chimpanzees that viciously attacked a US student at a primate sanctuary in Mpumalanga all the way to Drostersnes Proefplaas Vyeboom (wherever that is) to teach this idiot how real animals behave like, hope they start with his balls

  • badballie - 2012-07-05 10:05

Name and shame, scum like this might get away with abusing their fellow man, but no one will let someone who hurts innocent animals continue breathing for much longer, the community will throw a big "braai" in his honour

  • chene.laubscher - 2012-07-05 10:18

can I adopt the puppy??? It's disgusting!! I adopted a dog who had an elastic band around his neck, poor thing almost died and now he is deaf. luckily he is fine loved now. revolting what "people" does to animals!

  • erneyb - 2012-07-05 10:34

That man should be charged and the court should force him to work (for free) cleaning up dog's poo at an animal shelter for at least two years.

  • Dennis - 2012-07-05 11:12

Man, 22, must hope and pray he never meets me.
