R20 000 stolen out of unlocked car

2012-04-26 12:22

Polokwane - Police in Mankweng appealed to residents to take more care with locking their vehicles on Thursday after a man had a large sum of money stolen from his car while running an errand.

"We are appealing to people to be more careful," said police spokesperson Constable Moses Molepo.

The man had parked his car and dashed into a supermarket to make a delivery in the northern Limpopo town at noon on Wednesday, leaving R20 000 inside, with the doors of the vehicle unlocked and a window unopened.

When he returned, his R20 000 was gone.

Molepo said that crime was relatively low in Mankweng, but people should still make sure their doors were properly locked and their windows closed when they left their vehicles.

"Generally we are good. We don't have a problem with theft. We just want to warn our people."

There is no pills for stupidity. In any case, did he realy have that amount in his car? Or did he spend it and came out with this story. I bet it was his employer's money he took it!

      Gieljam - 2012-04-26 12:52

Sure there was , the suspects left an IOU note for the amount ..

  • Marion - 2012-04-26 12:29

Stupid. If he works for a company and collects cash for deliveries how is he going to prove that the money was stolen?

  • Clarence - 2012-04-26 12:32

In my opinion this "victim' should be the prime suspect.

      Morrone - 2012-04-26 13:49

What a stupid suggestion. Are you new here? It's a fact that if you leave your car unlocked it will be searched

  • rowan.maulson - 2012-04-26 12:44

Se voet someone leaves R20k in their car and just "dashes" into the shop and leaves the car unlocked like that... Not even in 1st world countries where crime is much lower than here. If someone honestly was that stupid, then this is the price they pay for that stupidity. Why does stupidity like this even make the news?

  • natasha.wentink - 2012-04-26 12:49

    Idiot. :/

This must be the dumbest person walking, with all do respect, the person who stole that money didnt steal it, they took it, its either that or the guy knows what happened to the money, who in there right minds leaves that kind of money lying around in an unlocked car with windows open??? Huh? Normal people wouldnt leave a R5 coin visible in a locked car! Idiot

  • Rob - 2012-05-03 17:45

DUH... How do you leave R20,000.00 in a unlocked parked vehicle whilst 'running an errand'..... OR is this an Insurance scam...? Insurance will not pay out anyway. OR, it was 'company money' now in the alleged complanants 'pocket'... You deserve to have that money 'taken' not 'stolen'.... You are stupid. In this day and age you don't even leave a packet of cigarettes in full view of criminals...
